Role overview:


The Test Engineer will be a fully qualified Quality Assurance & Testing expert and will have a variety of technical skills relating to quality assurance and testing.


As part of this role the Test Engineer will work with other test professionals, in order to support continual product delivery across projects within Hermes UK.


  • Establishing goals and objectives for appropriate test cycles, defining and maintaining test standards and quality assurance tasks
  • Capable of providing estimations on test activities
  • Responsible for enriching test conditions into fully featured test cases
  • Responsible for running test cases against the software solutions being provided and reporting the findings to the project team
  • Creating and maintaining the automation test pack using technologies such as Cucumber, Ruby and Selenium
  • Working in an agile environment e.g. Scrum and Kanban
  • Retesting defect resolution and providing regression test activities
  • Working in a team that requires good communication between onshore and offshore 3rd parties


  • Minimum ISEB / ISTQB foundation accreditation in software testing
  • Familiar with ISO29119 and IEEE 829, 1044
  • Experience working in an IS department or a software delivery organisation
  • Experience as a functional test analyst at a systems / systems integration level
  • Experience working with test automation for example Cucumber/ Selenium
  • Experience of working on Oracle, Java and web based platforms
  • Experience in using SQL to interrogate data within a relational database structure
  • Experience in using test management and defect tracking tools
  • Experience of formal development and test methods and/or Project Delivery Lifecycle
  • Experience of working as a test analyst in both agile and waterfall development projects
  • An ability to identify, analyse and quickly assimilate information
