Overview

The UK's largest home delivery courier network, Hermes will delivered more than 260 million parcels last year on behalf of the biggest names in retail and our network of over 14,500 hard working lifestyle Couriers make this happen providing a high quality doorstep service. We employ over 2,500 people; delivering parcels to over 190 countries.

 

Our Midlands Super Hub in Rugby is set to launch in August this year. A £31million investment and the size of 33 football pitches, this hub will be the largest in Europe and will have the capacity to process 1.2 million parcels a day.

Responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to help drive the overall performance of the Control Room operation. You’ll assist in monitoring and controling the movements of the Parcels and vehicles throughout the Hub to ensure operational requirements of the shift are met, you will also be responsible for managing the assistant controllers.

 

You'll have accountability for specific tasks such as:

 

  • Utilising the Hub operating systems and site observations to safely control and monitor the flow of operations
  • Ensure the company health & safety policies are adhered to and achieve full compliance with the relevant legislation is achieved
  • To manage issues within the sortation equipment, provide solutions & clear instructions to the teams
  • To provide Management, daily reports and present findings on operational trends
  • Prepare equipment for maintenance and undertake associated risk assessments
  • Effectively communicate plant status by means of end of shift/end of trip handover reports

Qualifications

You will have the passion, drive and confidence to work cross functionally across the region as part of a growing team.  

 

Essential Skills for the role:

  • Knowledge of parcel Operations and procedures is essential
  • Experience in Hub operational systems is essential
  • High level of Excel knowledge specifically in data manipulation
  • Analytical thinking and ability to problem solve quickly
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • PC literate
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic when working as part of a team or on own initiative
  • Abilities to effectively run multiple tasks at once
  • Proven organisational skills
