Overview

We are the Hermes Innovation Lab, part of the UK’s leading consumer delivery company handing over 270 million parcels per year. We launched the Innovation Lab back in October 2016 to work with disruptive technologies to build the delivery services of tomorrow. We also use our creative flair to help solve existing business problems as well as challenging our business with a range of forward-thinking services that will change the delivery landscape.

 

We are a team of thinkers and doers with a passion for creating change. Robotics, digital assistants, voice interfaces, AI, IoT and connected car and even “mixed reality” is all within our disruptive toolkit to help shape the future.

 

You will be joining a highly skilled, cross-functional team of people working as a product owner. The role will be focused around helping to ideate, design build & test new products and services with a focus on improving the customer experience. You also get to work in our exciting new office in Leeds.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Innovation to establish the Innovation Lab roadmap with a clear alignment to Hermes business strategy.
  • Experience in the logistics industry with enough breadth of knowledge to understand the commercial and operational process within Hermes.
  • Engage key stakeholders with the relevance of emerging technologies in presenting new opportunities and solving existing problems.
  • Turn an idea into an opportunity, breaking down the requirements using tools such as customer journey mapping, business model canvas and user story definition.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a small team to create new, innovative products and services.
  • Researching and monitoring start-ups, competitors and relevant emerging technologies.
  • Facilitating internal/external events as required, such as hackathons and technical workshops.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Passion for emerging technology, spotting opportunities to disrupt our industry.
  • Self-starter with a positive, enthusiastic, can-do attitude.
  • Evangelist - be able to promote the innovation capability and sell our ideas.
  • Capable of facilitating workshops, confident presenter and good listener.
  • Analytical skills, how do we measure success, what does our data tell us, what can we try differently to prove our hypothesis.
  • Problem solver - ability to iterate through trial and error and learning from the experience.
  • Lean methodologies - understand the concept of delivering MVP to prove value.

Desirable:

  • A creative flair, capable of showcasing our ideas using digital media, videos, demos posters etc.
  • AWS cloud service experience
  • BSc in Computer Science or related field
